Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all shift employees are following the Company’s health and safety standards.
  • Operate reactor processes when and if necessary to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process;
    • setting processing variables;
    • observing control points and equipment;
    • monitoring personnel and resources; implementing cost reductions;
    • developing reporting procedures and systems;
    • facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points;
    • initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Establish an open line of communication between operations and the QC laboratory to facilitate continuous flow of production and analyzing data to avoid potential problems in workflow.
  • Ensuring that operators are recording operational data, such as temperatures, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results.
  • Monitor operators work in progress and timing to facilitate the necessary logistics of production flow minimizing downtime while increasing output and reducing cycle time
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and standard operating procedures
  • Review in process batch sheets for accurate completion of all documentation such as daily reports, batch sheets, shift logs, incident reports and labeling of finished products containers and packaged waste.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position manages all operators in the department and is responsible for the supervision and performance of the employees within that department.

Schedule:

  • This is a full-time salary exempt position.
  • Monday through Friday,
  • 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Days and hours outside of the standard may be required as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in a chemical or allied industry production environment.
  • 5-8 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role in a production environment.
  • Previous chemical industry operations supervisory experience.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals (including high and low pH), flammable materials, high, precarious places and moving mechanical parts. The employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures within the working environment, including outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid conditions. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fume hoods is required. Certain procedures will require the use enhanced personal protective equipment such as a fit tested, full-face respirator.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be willing and able to wear safety equipment, such as but not limited to, ear plugs, safety glasses and/or goggles, steel-toe boots, and face shields. Employee will be required to be fit-tested for full-face respirators.
