Job Description

Position Description The duties of Line Assembly Class I & II provides the final steps for the completion of the total product package before shipment to the customer, ensuring the highest quality and care is taken to exceed customer expectations and satisfaction. This position is a step by step process that moves via conveyor until completion. Each step is essential to the successful completion of the total door package. Care and attention must be taken to ensure that each step is properly performed before moving to the next process. Class I is segmented into individual work stations that require specific process completion as the door moves along the line conveyor. Training will be provided in each step process whenever practical. Upon completion of step training, employees must demonstrate competence in performing the job duties. Employees who satisfactorily meet all job skills and requirement for all the stations in Class I and can demonstrate their performance will be certified as Line Assembly - Class II. Individual training documents will be maintained in the employee’s work history records.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety minded in all work activities; suggest and recommend safety initiatives; commitment to safe work habits.
  • Recognizing the specifications and parts required to complete each door package as listed on individual customer orders.
  • Ensuring that work instructions are followed precisely to successfully complete the door package.
  • Understanding daily production goals and work at a pace that meets or exceeds those requirements.
  • Knowing what each customer order requires and recognizes when parts are missing or installed incorrectly.
  • Inspecting the door frame to ensure that it is prepped correctly before putting on the conveyor line.
  • Inspecting the completion and quality of the assigned job before it moves to the next step in the assembly process.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and/or Production Manager.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the Line Assembly Class I & II role:

  • The ability to use basic mathematics including fractions for measuring, cutting and calculating lengths and widths of materials.
  • Detailed oriented using fine visual and manual skills.
  • The ability to use basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and drills.
  • The ability work in a fast-paced environment for an extended period of time.
  • The ability to read and understand layouts, shop orders and process control documents.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Other:
    • Positive attitude; self-motivated.
    • Reliable and well-disciplined; ability to work well with others and follow instructions.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. This is a standing position for up to 10 hours per day on a concrete factory floor. Frequent use of hand and hand tools to assembly parts. Ability to lift 30 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
